Satisfaction doesn’t come from a job. Intriguing? Satisfaction is a natural outcome of service.
How did you feel when you have helped someone beyond their wildest dreams? You are sure to get satisfaction with your job once you decide to find moments of service. ‘Service’ by Ron Kaufman’s definition is ‘taking action to create value for someone else’.
I like the question of linking an initiative to the organization culture.
If an important initiative is not yet part of the culture, here are 2 questions for your self-diagnosis.

I learned from your profile that you are committed to the noble initiative of rural revival and the author of a best-seller on Microfinance.
I have come across rural woman leaders being loved and trusted for creating opportunities and reshaping lives. They infuse confidence and pride in their teams by imparting skills for sustenance. They command a high level of allegiance as the team is grateful for their life transformation. Relating to the Eight Natural Stages of leadership defined in ‘Father Of Your Team’, the team is expected to be in ‘Stage 5- The Entitlement Stage’ or higher.
Dearest Reader,
I understand your predicament. Trust, bonding and reverence take time to develop. They cannot be accelerated.
Here is a working plan for you. When this sequence is followed, your team could come to a listening mode and then it is easier to have them work effectively.

Security guards, maintenance staff, and chauffeurs have a workplace too. They have their customers, and they work with their teams. Leadership is not anointed. Yet, it is easily noticed when consistently displayed. A security guard who voluntarily takes quick strides to the parking, the moment he spots an employee or a chauffeur struggling to find a space is noticed for his leadership.

Leadership is the ‘Displayed ability to influence and add value to others, without a need for authority’. ‘Others’ would include not just the leader’s team, the clients and every other stakeholder. Ability to influence is gained when the leader can build trust through managing relationships and, larger goals.
