Collected Spilled Water
After carefully moping the spilled water on the floor I sat beside my mom, looking at her broken hand. I recalled the day when I had spilled water on the floor as a habitual quality of myself and how I had neglected it with an excuse “It’s just water, it will dry up by itself”.
Little did I know that mom would slip over that water and that would cost her a broken hand. That moment I was scared, sensitive and regretful. All sorts of alternate possibilities had started forming in my head like what would have happened if it was not just a broken hand? What would I have done then? I have never ever been this grateful for a broken hand. Mistakes often leaves regrets and fears which haunt us for the rest of our life and surely refrain us from spilling more water.
Zero
Gautam was a 15 years old boy. He wanted to become a Cricketer. He had been training in cricket from childhood. But he didn’t performed well and felt difficult to score runs every time in the matches. One day, he was dropped from the school cricket team. He was depressed and went
Back to home. He threw his kitbag away and sat on the sofa. His mother came and asked him why he was looking depressed. He replied sadly, “I am dropped from the team due to my poor batting. I did so many mistakes in batting. I’m a big valueless zero”. He started crying. His mother replied to him,” yes, you did a mistake. But that doesn’t mean that you are valueless.”
She took a paper and wrote 00 on it and said, “this is you with your mistakes.” and she wrote 1 to left side to 00. Now it appears as 100. She said, “this 1 is your rectification for your mistakes. This is you.
If you correct your mistakes. It is not a mistake to do mistakes. But it will be a mistake when you don’t rectify it. We shouldn’t miss to learn something from our mistakes. If you rectify the mistakes then you are no more valueless. So just learn from your mistakes and step ahead to your goal”.
After some years later, one fine evening, he was recollecting this incident by holding his mother’s photo and sitting in the sofa. Her words made him realise and now he became a great cricketer.
By looking into his mother’s photo with gratitude he said, “Thanks Mom”.
